Classic American brunch with pancakes and bacon? A slightly healthier option with a vegan buffet? Maybe Asian or Spanish flavors? Regardless of what you like, few meals can match a long and delicious brunch on a Saturday, Sunday, or why not a weekday. Start the day with a good night’s sleep, and then meet up with friends for a luxury brunch at a restaurant or café where you can feast on your favorites. Or choose takeaway and have a cozy picnic in a park.

01

STHLM Brunch Club

On Dalagatan in Vasastan, you’ll find one of Stockholm’s most popular brunch restaurants – the trendy STHLM Brunch Club. And as the name reveals, it’s all about brunch (although you can also eat breakfast and lunch here), and the inspiration comes from the other side of the Atlantic. So if you’ve ever had brunch in New York, you know what we’re talking about. This place is cozy, small, and serves some really good brunch food.

The menu includes plenty of American brunch favorites such as acai bowls, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, bacon, sandwiches, large breakfast plates, and of course, fluffy American pancakes with delicious toppings. Plus, the guest’s favorite freakshakes – giant and very Instagram-friendly milkshakes. It’s only goodies, and you’ll be satisfied with whatever you choose from the menu. There are options for both the meat eater, vegetarian, and vegan (gluten-free alternatives are also available). STHLM Brunch Club is open from early morning to afternoon, both weekdays and weekends. Keep in mind that you can’t book a table in advance, so come early if you want to get a seat.

The Greasy Spoon

The Greasy Spoon was founded by two Brits who wanted to fill a gap in Stockholm’s restaurant scene – a place that served classic English breakfast. In other words, bacon, sausage, fried egg, beans, oven-roasted tomato, garlic mushrooms, and bread. Their concept “breakfast & brunch, all day, every day!” has been a huge success, and it’s no surprise – who doesn’t want to eat tasty breakfast food all day? Nowadays, The Greasy Spoon has two locations in Södermalm and one in Vasastan. In addition to the super-delicious (and Instagram-friendly) food, generous portions, cozy premises, great atmosphere, and friendly staff make this many people’s choice for Stockholm’s best brunch.

It’s not just the classic British breakfast that makes Stockholmers and tourists from near and far flock here. The menu also includes pancakes (try the ones with blueberries), fruit salad, banana bread, eggs benedict, yogurt, chia pudding, and much more. Drinks include coffee, tea, ice tea, hot chocolate, fresh juices, and ginger shots. In addition, The Greasy Spoon serves beer, sparkling wine, and brunch cocktails if that’s more your thing (why not try a Bacon Bloody Mary!). There’s no table reservation, and it’s often packed on weekends, so be here early.

Älskade Traditioner

If you want to eat brunch in Södermalm and have a weakness for waffles, you should head to Älskade Traditioner on cozy Södermannagatan. Waffle lovers from Stockholm and other places line up here, and it’s no wonder they like it. At this lovely retro café, you can sit down in a fantastic room filled with furniture and interior details from the 1950s and 1960s —nostalgia deluxe. The furniture and crockery come from the owner’s family, giving the whole place a cozy and personal atmosphere.

On the menu are Stockholm’s best waffles – both food waffles and sweet waffles – with many tasty flavor combinations (and funny names) that are guaranteed to make your mouth water. Chili cheese, halloumi, falafel, spinach, eggs benedict, Västerbotten cheese, roe, Skagen, cinnamon roll, and fresh berries, to name just a few. And don’t miss the cafe’s own invention, Wraffle™ – a wrapped waffle with filling. If you fancy something other than waffles, there’s salad, meatballs, and sweets such as ice cream and milkshakes (a Swedish Fikashake, anyone?). Everything at Älskade Traditioner is made from scratch with quality ingredients and care for the environment.

À la Lo

Do you want to take a trip to Paris without leaving Stockholm? Then the café À la Lo in Vasastan is the place for you. It’s run by mother and daughter who love food, coffee, France, croissants, talking to people, and hanging out in cafes. They have gathered all this in one place and done a brilliant job. À la Lo has taken Stockholm by storm and is today on many people’s list of favorite cafes.

Here you can have breakfast, lunch, brunch, and “fika.” The menu is full of delights. The high-class coffee comes from a French roastery and is available in many types – from latte and cappuccino to iced latte and cortado. The pastries are made on-site, and the selection includes croissants, carrot cakes, pecan brownies, and much more. If you’re hungrier, you can try goodies like baguette, toast, levain, Turkish yogurt, semolina porridge, and French toast. Plus, good drinks like smoothies, lemonade, and kombucha. And everything is plant-based. Très bien if you’re looking for a vegan or vegetarian brunch! If you want brunch in Vasastan, À la Lo is a great option.

Brunch S/S Stockholm
S/S Stockholm gives you the city’s best brunch view
Good brunch combined with a fantastic view of the archipelago – how does that sound? That’s what you get if you go on a brunch cruise with the boat S/S Stockholm. This old steamboat, built in 1931, departs every Saturday and Sunday (March-December) from Strandvägen and takes you on a three-hour brunch cruise in Stockholm’s inner archipelago. While this historic ship glides through crystal blue water out into the sunny archipelago, you can enjoy a well-composed brunch buffet made from ingredients based on season, trends, flavor, and the chefs’ imagination.

The buffet is full of Swedish classics such as meatballs, herring, and Jansson’s temptation, but there are also fresh salads, cold cuts, cheeses, and vegan dishes. You then top the meal with a dessert table full of goodies. In the kitchen, they have a sustainability mindset and focus on green and healthy. And besides the first-class brunch with an unbeatable view from the table, S/S Stockholm offers light and airy salons, a large dining room, and a welcoming boat deck.
