Stockholm’s Gondolen restaurant holds a right place on the city’s ‘best of’ lists, and the attached wine bar is just as good. With names like Château Mouton Rothschild on the very long list, you know you’re in for a treat – although some of the more impressive names are only available by the bottle, not the glass. What is available by the glass (which is extensive) is available in two glass sizes, so if you want to try a variety of grapes order the smaller glass while enjoying the view.

With a chilled out and welcoming atmosphere, 19 Glas kicked off Stockholm’s wine bar revolution. Perhaps the best stocked wine bar in the city, 19 Glas claims it might also be the one that serves the most wines by the glass in the world. Whether or not that’s true there is no denying the purveyors here are both passionate and keen to open your eyes (and you palette) to some of the amazing tastes out there. Good food, great tastings, and funky sidewalk seating complete the picture.

This hidden gem is housed below street level in one of Stockholm’s oldest stone buildings, so it’s all about history amid the stone vaults and hidden nooks and crannies – and acres of charm. While the influences are Spanish – you can get tapas in the restaurant – the wine list is international, which you can enjoy on leather cushions. And did we mention the tapas? They are out of this world, so be sure to grab something to eat.
