Noema

At Noema, you can enjoy delicious food in elegant surroundings
On the ground floor of the historic Wallenstam building on Birger Jarlsgatan (whose façade is famous from the Swedish TV series Varuhuset), you’ll find Noema – an elegant yet laid-back restaurant where weekday lunches, dinners, and lively nights out all come together under one roof. The dining room is vibrant and inviting, with grand chandeliers, wine-red panels, round tables dressed in white linen, and an open kitchen that adds to the buzz. It’s a place that works just as well for a romantic dinner as for a night out with friends. For larger groups, there’s also a private dining room that seats up to 32 guests.

Noema’s menu is built around snacks, sharing plates, and grilled dishes where meat takes the spotlight, though there are also fish and vegetarian options. The best way to experience the kitchen’s vision is to order several dishes and share. To pair with the food, there’s a broad wine list and a cocktail bar where the drinks are crafted with as much care as the menu. On weekends, Noema also serves a brunch that blends classic favorites with modern twists – the perfect way to kick off the weekend.

Tête

If you’re craving delicious Lebanese food, Tête is the right choice
Just a stone’s throw from Östermalm, Tête is a Lebanese restaurant where classic flavors meet modern touches. The team calls it Lebanese fusion, and that approach is reflected in both the food and the setting. The dining room is elegant and understated, with soft lighting, muted tones, and a sleek bar that naturally draws people together. It’s just as well suited for a dinner for two as it is for after-work drinks or a long, social evening with friends. Larger groups can book one of the two private dining rooms for a more intimate and upscale experience.

The kitchen is rooted in traditional Lebanese cooking, inspired by family recipes, while also taking cues from other parts of the world. The menu is designed for sharing, built around meze, grilled dishes, and thoughtfully crafted combinations. Expect everything from spreads, falafel, and handmade pastries to lamb sweetbreads, grilled octopus, and heartier plates from the grill. A generous wine list focused on Lebanon and France, along with a well-stocked bar, rounds out the experience. All in all, Tête is a natural choice if you want to enjoy Lebanese cuisine in a stylish setting in Östermalm.

Beirut Café

Experience the best of Lebanese cuisine
Beirut Café is not only Östermalm’s oldest Lebanese restaurant, but also the first of its kind in all of Stockholm. Nowadays, the address is the newly renovated Östermalmshallen, but the feel is still just as mysterious and celebrity packed.

Overlooking Nybrogatan, the restaurant seats around 150 people and has two chambre séparée rooms. The velvet and brass decor is cozy and welcoming. At Beirut Café, guests such as Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga have enjoyed everything on offer.

The obvious star of Beirut Café is of course the delicious food prepared on the grill. The ingredients for their meze are always the best and everything is prepared from scratch. Their meze is also perfect for sharing. The drink menu is also an exciting journey of discovery, with Lebanese vintage wines and drinks that have an oriental touch in the form of saffron, orange and figs.

You can tell that they care about their guests. Beirut Café is an Östermalm restaurant where nothing is left to chance.

Sturehof

It isn’t possible to talk about good restaurants in Östermalm without mentioning Sturehof. It’s a classic institution in Stockholm in the middle of Stureplan. You come here to have a beer or drink at the bar, eat home cooking, celebrate something with beautiful seafood plateaus, or just mingle and look for celebrities. The food and atmosphere are unique, and it’s hard to find something like this in Stockholm or the rest of Sweden.

Kasai

Kasai - restaurant Östermalm
Food, drinks, service, and entertainment – everything is top-notch at Kasai

How about enjoying delicious Japanese cuisine in a luxurious yet lively environment where anything can happen? Then you should visit Kasai on Linnégatan, a Japanese fusion restaurant, and cocktail bar. Since 2016 they’ve offered Stockholmers and visitors a limitless experience in everything from food and drink to service and entertainment. Choose the elegant dining room in the restaurant’s atmospheric Dinner Club or book their Chambre séparée, where your party can sit in private. Regardless of your choice, you as a guest are always at the center.

The menu offers high-class Japanese food prepared from quality ingredients. If you love sushi, you will definitely get your fill. Besides the traditional Japanese favorite dish, you can also find sashimi, maki, nigiri, and gunkan. If you’re in the mood for something else from Japanese cuisine, Kasai offers izakaya, robata (grilled dishes), and omakase (the chef’s favorites), both with meat, fish, and vegetarian. The drinks menu maintains the same high level and offers wine, beer, non-alcoholic, and sake. Plus a large selection of magical cocktails with exciting flavors.

Kasai is perfect for both lunch, brunch, dinner, after work, and parties. And no matter when you come, it’ll be a visit to remember at one of Östermalm’s best restaurants.

Restaurang Oxenstiernan

The harmonious dining room, filled with Swedish design at Restaurant Oxenstiernan

In a lush and slightly hidden courtyard, a stone’s throw from Storgatan, you’ll find one of Östermalm’s (and Stockholm’s) true restaurant gems, Restaurang Oxenstiernan. A green oasis in the middle of the city. The restaurant is located in Oxenstiernska Malmgården, a magnificent and listed building from the 18th century that has been transformed into an inspiring meeting place for sustainable food and drink, design, and quality craftsmanship. In short, guests are offered the best Sweden has to offer – in everything from carrots to porcelain. Proof that they have succeeded with their ambitions is that they have been awarded a green Michelin star.

The menu focuses on Swedish food craftsmanship in the kitchen, where classic flavors and creative flair meet under the guidance of renowned chef Elvira Lindqvist. The result is delightful. The menu is constantly changing, so every time you eat lunch or dinner here, you can enjoy new and exciting dishes. But no matter what’s on the menu, it’s all about local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients. And Oxenstiernan is not the place for a quick meal – instead, you get an experience for all the senses. In summer, there is also a fantastic outdoor terrace with sunshine all day, where you can enjoy food and drink under the trees. The kitchen moves outdoors for open-fire barbecues and stone oven pizzas.

Oxenstiernan is run by silversmith Sebastian Schildt (his workshop is next door to the restaurant), and his passion for genuine craftsmanship and quality is evident in everything from the food to the decor. The beautiful dining room is decorated with new unique designs made in Sweden by Swedish designers. In other words, every item has a story – many of them are for sale. You can buy everything from glasses and plates to vases and cloth napkins. The restaurant also has a chambre séparée, and you can rent the entire space for weddings, private parties, and events.

Brillo Pizza

Playful and luxurious at Brillo Pizza
Brillo Pizza is a welcome addition at the very heart of upper Östermalm, on the outside of Fältöversten. The restaurant is reminiscent of the classic pizza joint in New York. The ingredients are given here: a nice hangout with friends, good wine, beer and bubbly and pizzas made with a large portion of love.

The pizzas are of course served in slices. They are made to share and enjoy. The food is the perfect setting for an evening with friends, a relaxed AW or a long weekend lunch. And takeaway is an obvious option.

The menu at Brillo Pizza offers a nice mix that makes everyone feel welcome. It’s luxurious and unpretentious at the same time. Here, playful Kapritjosa coexists with ultra-fluffy Löjrom, with aged priest cheese, fior di latte, crème fraiche, red onion, chives, dill. It’s a menu that makes getting together a little more fun.

A glass of bubbly goes perfectly with it. Of course, there are non-alcoholic options at Brillo Pizzo, but no matter what you’re in the mood for, it’s a place you’ll want to stick around – especially on those balmy summer evenings. The star of this restaurant is, of course, the large outdoor terrace with room even for larger groups.

Great pizzas at a great price – sometimes it doesn’t have to be more difficult than that. With Brillo Pizza, Östermalm has a natural meeting place in Östermalm, right next to the cozy Tessinparken on Gärdet and just a stone’s throw from Djurgården.

PA&Co

If any restaurant can compete with Sturehof’s icon status, it’s PA&Co. This classic establishment dates back to the mid-80s. In 2006, a new group of restaurateurs took over and created the restaurant as we know it today. Lovely, intimate, loud atmosphere full of fantastic restaurant noise, excellent food and drink, and a place to be seen. You’ll find it on the hilltop of Riddargatan, and when you enter through the doors, you immediately understand why PA & Co is one of Östermalm’s absolute best restaurants.

Adam/Albin

The duo Adam and Albin have taken their place on Stockholm’s restaurant map and consolidated it over the years. Among their four restaurants, it’s Adam/Albin that showcases their original style and noblest cuisine. The menu has its origins in Nordic cuisine and is described as a gastronomic dining experience where they redefine the otherwise exclusive meal with a passion for exceptional ingredients. In other words, their fine dining restaurant is well worth a visit to Rådmansgatan.

Stockholms Glass- & Pastahus

Stockholms Glass- & Pastahus
Stockholms Glass- & Pastahus serves up some of the city’s best Italian food

At Tessinparken, a stone’s throw from the mall Fältöversten, you’ll find the restaurant gem Stockholms Glass- & Pastahus. Here on Valhallavägen, they’ve served tasty food from the Italian kitchen since the mid-1980s. And this family-owned and guest-friendly restaurant was actually one of the city’s pasta pioneers when they started to offer the Italian favorite that’s now a natural part of Swedish food culture. The guests have appreciated their concept over the years, and today the restaurant has many regulars.

The menu includes a wide range of Italian delicacies prepared from scratch with love and top-quality ingredients. How about a classic Carbonara, a fresh Linguine Scampi, or a delicious Risotto Funghi? Or why not a tasty pizza with your favorite toppings? No matter what you choose, you’re guaranteed to be full and happy. Stockholm Glass- & Pastahus is open from morning to evening, so you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There’s also a fresh deli for those who want to buy goodies to take home. And don’t miss out on their amazing ice cream before you leave (or order their famous cakes and pastries for your next party).

Nybrogatan 38

Nybrogatan 38 could be called the neighborhood restaurant of the neighborhood restaurants in Östermalm. Located at the same address as the name reveals, this favorite always offers a great atmosphere, perfect service, and a very nice selection on the menus. Here you can enjoy several popular classics, and it’s a lot of regulars in both the dining room and the bar. The menu is French-inspired with fun elements from other parts of Europe, and the same goes for the wine list. Here you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and takeaway.

Halv Grek plus Turk

Halv Grek plus Turk has been located in the somewhat hidden street corner of Jungfrugatan / Tyskbagargatan since 1996. And the ingenious name reveals the type of food served here – the best from the eastern Mediterranean region. The fact that this gem has delighted Östermalm for so many years shows that the restaurant always delivers good food and a fun atmosphere. A different and wonderful addition to the more traditional restaurants in the same area. It’s a great choice for both small and large parties, and they also offer a Chambre separée.

Italiano Ristorante

No list of Östermalm’s best restaurants is worth the name without a real ‘Italian.’ This classic has been in the game since the late ’80s. Italiano was started by Angelo Ottobre and is still run by the same family. Here they want to share their passion for Italian food and offer a part of ‘the real Italy.’ The food at this Italian restaurant is traditional, and the recipes come from none other than the founder’s mother. The wine list also shows what Italy can do with many wines from the country’s different regions.

Villa Dagmar

It’s hard not to like restaurants located inside trendy boutique hotels, especially when it’s as beautifully and eclectically decorated as Villa Dagmar. Daniel Höglander and Niclas Jönsson, both acclaimed and innovative chefs, are in charge. The restaurant invests in combining gastronomy, heart, and high ambitions with warm and personal service. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night cocktails are served in this international atmosphere with keywords such as The real New Nordic and Mediterranean fusion

Brasserie Astoria

Astoria is one of Östermalm’s latest additions and perhaps one of the most anticipated. Directed by none other than Björn Frantzén, Sweden’s only three-star chef, this brasserie has opened in the old Astoria cinema on the restaurant-dense Nybrogatan. However, Astoria does not have the same ambitions as the award-winning sister restaurant; instead, it’s a luxurious brasserie with a beautiful cocktail bar.

But with that said, you might want to bring a big wallet when you visit. Here you are offered an elegant and welcoming atmosphere, and a large and generous à la carte menu is available for both lunch and dinner. Extra plus goes to the large bar area, the wine bar, and the small intimate dining room where only drop-in guests are welcome.
