In the Swedish capital, mini-golf is hotter than ever, and here’s the guide you need to Stockholm’s best mini golf – outdoors and indoors. See you on the course!

Last updated: April 11, 2024

Do you think mini-golf is more fun than traditional golf? Then you’re not alone. Mini-golf is a classic Swedish summer activity that’s been around for many years. It originally came from the USA and entered Sweden in 1932. So, for almost 100 years, players have met on Stockholm’s mini-golf spots to have a nice time with friends or family (while we’ve been frustrated by annoying obstacles, cursed unnecessary mistakes, and swore over balls that didn’t want to go down the hole as we wanted).

Over the years, interest in miniature golf has gone up and down. But in recent years, there has been a real mini-golf boom, and the Stockholm area now has many top-class mini-golf spots to choose from. Adventure golf, where the courses have different themes, buildings, water systems, and all kinds of decorations, is also popular. And just as traditional golf has golf simulators that make it possible to play golf all year round, there are also several indoor mini-golf facilities.

Outdoor mini-golf in Stockholm

Golfbaren

Enjoy great mini-golf at Golfbaren’s course in Nacka Strand
Golfbaren, founded in 2013, is today the city’s largest and best player when we’re talking mini-golf and Stockholm. With three outdoor facilities and two indoor facilities, they provide the ultimate mini-golf experience for both Stockholmers and tourists. And it’s no surprise that Golfbaren knows what an excellent mini-golf course should look like. Behind the concept is Hans Olofsson, a true mini-golf enthusiast since childhood and former mini-golf world champion.

At Golfbaren’s three outdoor mini-golf facilities, you can play 18 holes on high-class artificial turf courses that are always in top shape. And just as important as the quality of the courses are the fantastic environments. True summer paradises. In Kristinebergs Slottspark, you’ll find the first facility Golfbaren took over. It’s one of Stockholm’s classic mini-golf courses dating from 1954. Aspudden is also a historic facility from the 1950s, beautifully located in a green park environment. And in Nacka Strand, you play with the sea as a backdrop and an unbeatable view. It doesn’t get any better than that.

The outdoor facilities are open during the summer season, May to August, and next to the courses, there’s also an excellent bistro and bar that serves pizza, burgers, salads, craft beers, and sparkling drinks. Soak up the sun on the outdoor terrace or take the goodies to the courts. “Mini-golf & maximum coziness,” as they call it. And if you want to have an event that’s guaranteed to be a success, Golfbaren is the obvious choice for everything from birthdays and bridal showers to after works and kickoffs.

Tantogårdens bangolf

Tantogårdens bangolf is a hot candidate for the mini-golf spot with the best location in Stockholm and perfect if you want to play mini-golf in Södermalm. In the lush Tantolunden – the Södermalm resident’s oasis just a short walk from Hornstull – there’s a nice 18-hole pitch-and-putt course where you and your party can challenge each other on a game of miniature golf. The facility was built in 2009 but dates back to the early 1950s. It’s open from spring to autumn.

Tantogården’s bangolf is run by the well-merited miniature golf club Tantogårdens BGK, and a proof of these concrete courses’ high standard is that the facility hosted the Minigolf World Championships in 2011. That was also when the course record was set at 21 strokes by the German Marco Henning. Maybe a bit tough to beat, but well worth a try? If nothing else for the feeling of playing in a World Cup arena. If you’re a larger group, it’s also possible to rent the entire course plus an instructor. Adjacent to the courses, there’s a kiosk where you can buy coffee, tea, cold drinks, hot dogs, toast, ice cream, and snacks. And why not end with a wonderful swim at the bathing place Tanto strandbad.
