Stockholm is a paradise when you want to have a drink (or two) out on the town. All over the city, there are great places for all preferences. Want to get fancy with craft drinks at an elegant cocktail bar? Gaze out over the city from a rooftop bar? Feel the international flair of a hotel bar? Try an exclusive Rioja at a wine bar? Or have plain, no-frills draft beer at a budget bar? Stockholm has it all.
But with all these options, finding the right place can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve created a guide to great bars in Stockholm. Perfect to have on hand next time it’s time to hit the town bars.
If someone in your party doesn’t want cocktails, there are beer, wine, cider, and non-alcoholic drinks. And if you’re in the mood for something to eat, there are plenty of snacks and small dishes. Sit down on the bar stools at the stylish green marble bar, or take a seat on the comfortable sofas. Beautiful old pharmacy cabinets and wooden boxes on the walls, plus the checkered floor further enhance the interior.
Add impeccable service and a fabulous atmosphere, and you can see why Pharmarium is super popular. It’s wise to book in advance (but there are also some drop-in spots).
A bar called Gemma
For cocktail fans, A bar called Gemma is heaven. From afternoon to late evening, you can enjoy creative and carefully crafted cocktails with imaginative names (the signature Gemma is a guest favorite). If you want something else to drink, this Östermalm bar also serves beer, wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic drinks. And if you’re hungry, there are light meals and snacks on the menu. In addition, A bar called Gemma also offers catering if you want a high-class drink selection at a party or event.
If you’re in the mood for a cool, high-rise bar in the middle of Stockholm city, you’ll love TAK Baren. This stylish rooftop bar is located 52 meters in the air above the square Brunkebergstorg. Stockholmers and tourists alike come here to enjoy the stunning views, great atmosphere, and delicious drinks with Nordic and Japanese flavors.
No matter what time of year you visit this Stockholm bar, you can count on a great atmosphere. In summer, the windows are open, and you can enjoy your favorite cocktail in the evening sun. In the colder seasons, the festivities move inside. And to turn up the heat and add to the cozy autumn and winter evenings, there’s good music and drinks that are a little warmer and fuller.
In short, TAK Baren is always a highlight. Perfect for after-work hangout, as a starting point before heading out into the Stockholm night, or an entire evening. In addition, you’re very close to cinemas, theaters, nightclubs, and everything else in the city’s entertainment world.
The stylish cocktail bar Coquetel Social is right in the middle of the action, more precisely in Stockholm’s vibrant bar and restaurant hub, Stureplan, and next door to Spy Bar, one of the city’s most famous nightclubs. This is the place to go if you want to sip drinks and mingle in a stylish and atmospheric environment. Skilled bartenders mix heavenly cocktails made from scratch with premium ingredients according to the rules of the art.
The luxury of the 1960s inspired Coquetel Social, and they have brilliantly mixed it with South American influences from Havana and Rio de Janeiro. The extraordinary space is combined with super-friendly staff and an incredible vibe (the bar has won several awards for best atmosphere).
Here, you can hang out after work, have an after-dinner drink, or stop by on your Stockholm night tour. And with the generous opening hours, it’s a great place to end the evening. In the summer there’s also a nice outdoor terrace.

Hernö Gin is a popular and award-winning gin producer from Härnösand, and as it should, this craft gin producer from northern Sweden has its own cocktail bar in central Stockholm – Hernö Gin Bar. And they’ve gone big – this renowned bar in Södermalm spreads over two floors in a beautiful old building where Götgatan meets Hornsgatan. In other words, a golden location where you can enjoy world class gin drinks, including several signature cocktails and perhaps Stockholm’s best gin & tonic.
Everyone is welcome at Hernö Gin Bar – the atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive, with friendly staff. The decor is also top-notch and has beautiful marble floors, high arches, and large windows – plus a nice view of Slussen. In addition to the bar, there’s a lovely restaurant and a gin-tasting room with a living room feeling. In short, it’s the promised land for all gin lovers (if you want gin-free drinks, go elsewhere), but if you’re craving something other than cocktails, there’s beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Snaps is a good option if you’re looking for bars in Stockholm with a nightclub vibe. Conveniently located at Medborgarplatsen in Södermalm, the queue is often long – the generous opening hours have made it a popular party spot every day of the week. It’s housed in a beautiful building with a long history, dating back to 1679. Throughout history, much has happened within these walls, but today, it’s a restaurant, bar, and club.
Snaps has two party-filled floors, with the downstairs resembling a castle cellar with fancy crystal chandeliers on the ceiling. There’s also a pleasant wooden bar where you can order everything from classic cocktails to draft beer. During the warmer seasons of the year, Snaps takes it up a notch. That’s when their large, lovely outdoor terrace is open. Here, you can sip a good drink, hang out with friends, or just get some fresh air. If you get hungry, you can visit the restaurant, serving snacks, burgers, and pizza.
Omnipollo is one of Sweden’s most popular and innovative beer breweries, and since 2021, their brewery operations are housed in a beautiful old landmark church in Sundbyberg. Here, you can not only watch beer brewing in action, but this modern craft brewery also offers an excellent bar hangout in the church’s taproom, a cool room with incredibly stylish decor, to say the least. In the summer, they also have a large outdoor terrace.
Of course, craft beer plays the leading role in the bar at Omnipollos kyrka, and it’s the more exclusive kind of beer. There are around 15 different craft beers on tap (some of which come straight from the fermentation tanks), so you’re sure to find something to suit your taste. The beverage is best matched with one of their ambitious burgers or snacks.
So hop on the metro or commuter train to Sundbyberg station, then it’s just a short walk to the beer church. And if you want to stay in Stockholm, there’s also Omnipollos hatt in Södermalm with beer, pizza, and other goodies.

Besides the bar itself being made of ice, the glasses you drink from are also made of this cold material. Sculpted from 40 tons of natural ice from the Torne River, the spectacular interior of ICEBAR takes you on a quick visit to northern Sweden’s polar magic in the heart of the Swedish capital. Just put on your thermo-cape and gloves (available to borrow) and get ready for a memorable evening.
