    About Södermalm

    Wave line

Södermalm was once known as the home of the working class but today associated with charming beer pubs, Swedish design, and trendy hipsters.

Step into the coffee shop Johan & Nyström and sip on a cup of slowly roasted Brazil Fortaleza among media hipsters and coffee nerds. Continue to Urban Deli and pick up tonight’s tapas. Or discover Louisiana’s cajun and creole cuisine at Marie Laveau. Södermalm offers a widespread nightlife from Södra Teatern on Mosebacke to Häktet at Bybis Torg. The music lover should head to Under Bron and dance the night away to club techno and hip hop. In the summer, the same place turns into Trädgården (‘The Garden’), which can be described as a sort of playground for grown-ups with a high festival feeling.

When it comes to shopping, you’ll find Swedish clothing brands such as Acne, Rodebjer, and Dagmar, as well as the children’s clothing brand Mini Rodini. There’s also a wide selection of second hand and vintage shops. At affordable Myrorna on Götgatan and Emmaus at Slussen, you can find clothes and items from 10 SEK and up. Browse among the hangers at Beyond Retro at Zinkensdamm or botanize among the timeless classics and exclusive range at Judit’s Second Hand, which is only a short walk away.

Södermalm also has beautiful parks such as Tantolunden and Vitabergsparken. Sit on Mosebacke Square on a sunny day and look out over Stockholm in a full panoramic view. Or fill up your cultural depots at the Fotografiska. The museum offers popular photo exhibitions as well as concerts and regular events. Sit down for a coffee break and a snack with a fantastic view of the water.
