STF af Chapman & Skeppsholmen

STF af Chapman & Skeppsholmen is maybe the most unique experience on the list. It’s a hostel split between a magnificent three-masted full-rigged ship and a former naval barracks (Hantverkshuset) located on the small island Skeppsholmen with great views of Old Town and the Royal Palace. The ship af Chapman is one of Stockholm’s most well-known landmarks and was built in 1888. Since 1949, the ship has been moored at Skeppsholmen and leased to the Swedish Tourist Association as a hostel.

With a 24/7 reception, sheets, towels, and cleaning, you have everything you need for your stay. The on-site café, Café Skeppsholmen, is open all year round and offers food, beverages, and “fika” (coffee and pastries) that you can enjoy on the sunny open-air café with fantastic views. The location is perfect if you want to be slightly removed from the bustle of the city but still conveniently located. Take the ferry to the island of Djurgården with all its attractions or visit the museums Modern Museum or Museum of East Asia (Östasiatiska Museet), just a short walk from the hostel. The inn is open 24/7, and while bed linen and towels are not included in the price, you can rent them for a reasonable price.
