Find a public outdoor pool in Stockholm
Stockholm’s bathing facilities with outdoor pools are true oases for both Stockholmers and tourists during hot summer days. Those who do not splash around in the water like to relax in a deck chair – why not in the company of a delicious ice cream?
The outdoor pools are open daily, and the season usually starts at the end of May and closes at the end of August; see the facilities’ websites for exact opening hours. To swim outdoors in a pool is wonderful, so pack swimwear, towel, and have a great time with your family or friends in the summer heat.

Please note that several facilities have an entrance fee and that children under 12 years old are not allowed to swim in the pools without adult company.

Eriksdalsbadet
Do you want to swim in the middle of the city? Then Eriksdalsbadet is an excellent choice. This large facility of 27,500 square meters can be found near Skanstull in Södermalm, and it is one of Stockholm’s most popular outdoor bathing facilities with four swimming pools. The largest pool is 50 meters and is intended for exercise swimming and playing. There is also a 25-meter pool, a teaching pool, and a paddling pool for the youngest bathers. In other words, there is a pool for everyone, and the facility also has a sauna, sunbathing area, dining, beach volleyball court, open-air dance floor, barbecue, and playground. There are also toilets, showers, changing rooms, and lifeguards on-site to keep track of all visitors. Obviously, Eriksdalsbadet has everything you need for a whole day of sun, swimming, and a great summer hangout.
The outdoor pools are open from the end of May to the end of August, but Erikdalsbadet also has a large indoor bath that you can visit all year round. There are, among other things, several swimming pools, diving pools, whirlpools, and an adventure water park with a water slide, a wild stream, and an outdoor swimming pool.

In addition to several nice bathing spots and beaches, Lidingö also offers the popular Breviksbadet, beautifully situated by Lake Kottlasjön and surrounded by idyllic nature. The complex has two outdoor pools, one of which is a children’s pool, both heated to about 26 degrees. There’s also a café where you can buy ice cream and coffee, a changing room with a sauna, and a large free car park.
In addition, there are fun activities for both children and adults in connection with the bathing facility. How about electric mini cars that children can drive around on a course and mini-golf with nine exciting and fun holes. Breviksbadet also organizes swimming school and summer camp where swimming lessons are combined with playing games and bathing.

For the hungry, there’s a cafe where you can buy simple food and pastries as well as a barbecue area. The bath has full accessibility for the disabled, and there are changing rooms with lockers, toilets, and showers. Around the pools are large areas (both grass and wooden decks) where you can sunbathe, have a picnic, throw a frisbee, play beach tennis or just hang out (board games are available to borrow). Lifeguards keep an eye on the bathers. And don’t miss the fine work of art at the entrance.
