Your guide to outdoor activities in Stockholm

Getting outside in Stockholm is never boring. This city has water everywhere, green parks in the middle of town, a lot of nature to discover, and the entire archipelago practically on your doorstep. No matter the season, there’s always something to do outside – whether you’re solo, with kids or a whole crew.

Love being on the water? Take a kayak or SUP ride and see the city from a new angle. Jump on a ferry to places like Vaxholm or Fjäderholmarna, or go cliff jumping at Långholmen if you’re feeling brave. Prefer land? There are bike paths, running trails, sledding hills and gorgeous hiking routes like Sörmlandsleden. In winter, you can ski at Hellasgården or even take the lift up Hammarbybacken.

There’s loads for families too – playgrounds, outdoor gyms, swimming spots. And if you’re more into chilling, Stockholm has no shortage of cozy parks to hang out in, like Hagaparken or Tantolunden.

And then there’s the archipelago – over 30,000 islands and skerries, just waiting to be explored. Go for the day or make a weekend of it. Paddle, swim, explore, or just sit on a dock and watch the boats drift by. It’s easy to get there, with regular ferries leaving straight from the city.

Basically – if you’re into nature, fresh air or just doing something different outdoors, Stockholm’s got you covered. We’ll show you the best spots.
