Lucy’s Flower Shop

Lucy’s Flower Shop isn’t just any cocktail bar. This upscale speakeasy near Stureplan ranks among the very best in the world – and for good reason. Difford’s Guide, one of the cocktail world’s most respected publications, has named it the best bar in the Nordics. They’ve also landed a spot on the prestigious World’s 50 Best Bars list. So if you’re looking for a truly exceptional cocktail bar in Östermalm, you definitely won’t be disappointed.

But Lucy’s Flower Shop is about more than just world-class drinks. It’s the whole experience that makes this place special. Find the unmarked entrance, walk through the abandoned flower shop, and discover the hidden door into the bar. Once inside, you’re greeted by moody purple and red lighting, an intimate atmosphere, and an extremely well-crafted cocktail menu. If you and your group want to sample a variety, there’s also a tasting menu with 7 servings.

The bar only has around 35 seats, so it’s smart to book ahead. That said, they do keep some spots open for walk-ins, so it’s always worth stopping by to try your luck.

Sessanta

Sessanta is the place to be if you’re in the mood for some fine wine

Not all bars in Östermalm have a wine list as thoughtfully curated as Sessanta on Karlavägen. This cozy Italian wine and food bar offers an impressive wine selection dominated by classic quality Italian bottles, and you can tell someone really cares about what ends up in your glass.

As you’d expect from a wine bar, Sessanta is a warm, inviting space early in the evening where you can settle in with a glass of wine, enjoy good food, and linger over conversation. But later at night – especially on weekends after 10 PM – the relaxed wine bar gradually transforms into a more energetic spot where the pace picks up, cocktails start flowing, and the vibe gets livelier. It’s that contrast that makes Sessanta special. You can start your evening with wine and a plate of pasta, then stay as the bar’s energy builds.

They open at 4 PM, making it a perfect after-work choice, but the bar works just as well for a fun night with friends or an intimate date over a glass of red. And every now and then, they amp things up with special events like wine tastings, trivia nights, and creative paint-and-sip evenings.

Cachette

Sit back, relax, order your favorite wine, and have a great time at Cachette

A bar named after the French word for “hiding place” obviously has a reason for it. And Cachette is exactly that – a small, intimate wine bar that doesn’t make a big fuss about itself but is absolutely worth seeking out. The bar is the little sister to the Lebanese restaurant Tête, and you’ll feel that slightly mysterious vibe the moment you step inside.

At the striking deep red bar, you can start your evening with one of Cachette’s signature cocktails infused with unexpected ingredients from around the world, or stick with one of the timeless cocktail classics. The wine list is thoughtfully curated with roots in France and Italy, though they also carry plenty of bottles from Lebanon. Hungry? The menu offers wine-friendly bites like cheese and charcuterie – small plates that can easily turn into a full evening of grazing around the table.

The interior blends exposed brick with white tile, and the atmosphere is typically relaxed and low-key. But every now and then, Cachette transforms into something livelier with DJ nights and music trivia.

Stjärtilleriet

What happens when a cocktail bar decides not to take itself too seriously but still does everything with meticulous precision? That’s basically where Stjärtilleriet is at. This Östermalm bar is tucked inside Restaurant Artilleriet at the Army Museum, a charming 18th-century building, and has made a name for itself with playful aesthetics, clever drinks, and an atmosphere that’s hard to resist.

Behind the bar, the bartenders take their mixology seriously, even if everything else feels relaxed and a bit rebellious. The drink menu is hand-drawn, and their signature cocktails have playful names and creative flavor combinations. Want to go all in? Try the Cocktail Omakase – an 8-course tasting journey where you blind-taste your way through the entire menu.

When summer arrives, the action moves partly outdoors to the sunny courtyard, which becomes one of Östermalm’s nicest patios. You can book a table or just drop by on a whim.

A bar called Gemma

It’s clear they’ve set the bar high, and the moment you step inside, you can tell they deliver.

For cocktail lovers, this place is a real gem. Creative, carefully crafted drinks with imaginative names are served from afternoon until late, with the signature cocktail Gemma being a clear favorite among regulars. Not in the mood for cocktails? They also have beer, wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic options. And if you’re hungry, you can order light bites and snacks.

Tyge & Sessil

Tyge & Sessil is a wine café for both wine enthusiasts and newcomers, which is one reason the place feels so welcoming. This cozy wine bar is a stone’s throw from Stureplan and is run by celebrated chef Niklas Ekstedt next to his restaurant Ekstedt. The vibe is relaxed and lively, and the staff makes sure you feel at home no matter how much you already know about wine.

The focus is on small-scale producers who work closely with nature, so Tyge & Sessil is a great choice if you want to explore natural wines. They love featuring bottles from underrepresented regions and unusual grape varieties, aiming to spark curiosity and inspire you to try new flavors.

The kitchen serves well-prepared mid-sized dishes with a constantly changing menu, plus a selection of tasty snacks that pair beautifully with the wines. No reservations accepted, so just pop in and hope for an open seat.

Black Milk Gastro Bar

Being named best new cocktail bar of 2024 by the Bartender Choice Awards is no small achievement. And since opening, Black Milk Gastro Bar has established itself as one of the city’s most exciting spots for anyone looking for more than just a standard drink. The bar is part of a Japanese restaurant serving omakase with global influences, but it absolutely holds its own as a standalone destination.

Behind the bar, mixology meets culinary precision, and the results are nothing short of fantastic. The cocktails are crafted to mirror and enhance the flavors from the kitchen, with each drink made using high-quality seasonal ingredients. You can also order smaller dishes to go with your drinks, making it easy to turn your visit into a full evening of food and cocktails.
