Vanadis Sushi – enjoy Vasastan’s best Japanese food
Welcome to Vasastan’s hidden sushi gem, seen as Stockholm’s best sushi by many people. In a cozy and relaxed environment, you can enjoy Japanese finger food with topping and decorations, ambiance, saké, and much more.
If you’re in the Vasastan area and get a sudden craving for sushi, a hot tip is to stop by Vanadis Sushi on Vanadisvägen 44. Here you’ll find a great lunch place every day between 10 am and 2 pm. In the nice premises, a mixed crowd of city folks and business people gather to fill their stomachs with sushi, dumplings, bibimbap, and poke bowls.
Towards the evening, the restaurant gets a more exclusive feeling with groups of friends, family hangings, date nights, and a selection of wine, beer, saké, and Japanese whiskey.
Vanadis Sushi has been serving Stockholm sushi since 2013, and behind the concept is Marko Ivanovic who has been in the restaurant industry for almost 15 years. A dedicated chef with 25 years of cooking experience runs the kitchen.
“We do, what you might call, a new style of sushi. Not the classic, old school but a more advanced kind with topping and decorations,” says Marko.
When you come here, you’ll experience Japanese food in a Japanese way in a Japanese atmosphere. The restaurant was recently renovated with a cozy and stripped-down interior with petrol blue, dark wood, velvet sofas, chairs, and atmospheric lamps. The feeling is everyday vanity, food, and coziness.
The menu offers a wide selection from cold to hot dishes; classic sushi, maki rolls, teriyaki chicken, dumplings, and sashimi. The restaurant’s big favorite is ‘Helena’s 50/50′ which consists of five pieces of avocado and five pieces of broiled salmon. Another dish that places high on the customers’ list of favorites is the panko roll. It consists of eleven pieces of deep-fried shrimp tempura rolled in Japanese breadcrumbs with avocado, cucumber, chives, and hot mayo sauce.
If you’re hungry, there are choices such as Yakiniku, sliced entrecote with salad, rice and yakiniku sauce, or Yakitori chicken, skewers with rice and teriyaki sauce.
The restaurant is currently expanding the evening menu with more meat dishes. Newcomers on the menu are their breaded spicy tuna roll and their GI special consisting of raw salmon or tuna marinated in sesame oil and soy.
Despite low-key marketing, the word of mouth rumor is booming with praise for the first-class sushi, fun staff, and loyal customers who ‘will definitely come here again.’ Some claim that it’s Stockholm’s best sushi and one of Vasastan’s undiscovered gems. And it’s a reputation that delivers.
