For those who like grilled meat, unique flavor combinations, colorful interiors, and modern Latin American music, restaurant La Boca on Fredsgatan 12 is a heavenly kingdom. Here one comes to enjoy really good food, drink cocktails, and – sometimes – be entertained by an orchestra in the middle of the dining room.
La Boca is a neighborhood in Buenos Aires’s port district famous for its colorful houses. In this barrio, many of the southern Europeans, mainly from Genoa, who came to Argentina in the late 1800s resided. In La Boca, tango was born and here locals and tourists come to eat at the many Italian restaurants. This beautiful neighborhood with its combination of South America and the Mediterranean was a strong source of inspiration for the concept behind the restaurant La Boca in Stockholm.
The decor is what you call Instagram-friendly. It is stylish, creative, and with Swedish measurements, very colorfully decorated. The tables are set with carefully selected details and every corner hosts large leafy green plants. Everywhere you turn, there are new photo opportunities. Even the food, which is presented with great aesthetics, and the delicious cocktails are a sight for sore eyes.

The menu is built around the barbecue techniques used. On the Asado menu, you’ll find the selected cuts served during the evening, and the menu changes every day. Carefully selected meat of the highest quality from healthy animals is displayed in the meat refrigerator. Your choice is then cooked on the grill and served with tasty side dishes.
The Churrasco menu includes skewers with pork, steak, lobster, mushrooms, and other delicacies. Here too, you choose side orders like fried potatoes, grilled corn, and mouth-watering sauces. There are also a number of smaller dishes that work as appetizers or to share. Many of these contain seafood, but there are also several vegetarian options. These dishes all have in common unexpected flavor combinations that are really wonderfully tasty.
May we suggest you start your meal with a drink or two in the cocktail bar Toucan? At La Boca, they are passionately interested in mixology and have their own signature cocktails, many based on rum or tequila. The wine list is long and well-stocked with high-quality wines, mainly from South America and Italy, but also from the New World and France, which is also represented by several exclusive champagnes.
Despite the high ambitions, La Boca certainly does not feel stiff or snobbish, quite the opposite. Here, the atmosphere is familiar, the furniture comfortable, and the staff down-to-earth and genuinely nice. The guests belong to the trendy, urban, and well-traveled crowd that appreciates high quality and new experiences. Many of them are already regulars, even though the restaurant only has been open a little over a year.
The reason they come back, again and again, is of course the quality of food and drink, the atmosphere, and the chance to sometimes enjoy the small orchestra that fills the dining room with modern Latin music and castanets. The band turns up at irregular intervals two to three times a week, raises the pulse in the venue, and makes the Stockholm outside fade away and turn into a colorful harbor district in Buenos Aires.
