The restaurant II Molo is the mall Gallerian’s answer to Little Italy. Here the food is prepared from scratch with the stomach and heart as the starting point. Kattis Fridell runs the restaurant together with her partner Patricio. Before they have run the restaurant ‘Piren’ in Hornsbergs Strand together for nine years and when they got access to the premises in Gallerian, it felt like the obvious choice. Kattis runs the restaurant section while Patricio is the head chef in the kitchen. In that way, they complement each other.

To choose the Italian cuisine was also natural since they are both passionate about Italian food and culture. I ask if Patricio is Italian.

“Patte is Spanish, but he’s probably more Italian,” she says, calling him an Italian wannabe with an obsession for Italian food and football. During their vacations, they usually bring their children to Italy – holidays that are mainly characterized by restaurant visits.

“It’s exciting how food differs from north to south in Italy,” says Kattis. “It’s something we want to open people’s eyes to.”

The menu is characterized by classic Italian cuisine with pasta, pizza, seafood, Italian pastries, and excellent wines. Bruschetta, carpaccio, and steak tartare are just a few of the goodies you can munch on. Your choices are many and delicious, and you’ll find everything from antipasti and à la carte to lunch of the week. The pizzas are big favorites. The special thing about them is that the dough has fermented for 72 hours, which gives the pizzas more flavor and crunch. Other popular options are deli meat trays and risotto.

Il Molo also has a café section that offers tasty treats from 10 am. Start the day with an Italian panini or enjoy freshly baked pastries. The café section also provides a takeaway station with lunch-on-the-go at reasonable prices, open every day between 11 am and 2 pm. In the afternoon, it turns into dinner service and stays open until late with bar, After Work, and DJ a couple of evenings per week.

All kinds of city souls visit II Molo – office workers who drop in for lunch, families with children, happy tourists, and theater people who enjoy a drink or a snack before moving on to Dramaten or the Opera. The combination of shopping and dining experience is a winning concept. The restaurant has room for up to 160 seats with the possibility of booking professional breakfast and afternoon meetings, as well as birthday parties and larger parties. II Molo delivers from breakfast to evening with a high level of coziness and well-cooked food.
