‘Sharing is caring’ is the motto of this Stockholm gem. Bring your friends east of Östermalm and spoil the taste buds with Asian fusion at its best.
In the heart of Stockholm on Stureplan, you can find East, described in their own words as ‘The first and most famous modern Asian restaurant in Sweden.’ And it’s hard to argue with that. They have been serving the Stockholmers Asian cuisine since 1989 and are something of a veteran in their genre. Here you can expect top-notch Asian fusion with influences from various crafts and traditions from both Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, and South America.
Have lunch with your colleagues and choose from plenty of sushi dishes, ranging from the classic to the innovative. In the evening, an ambitious dinner menu is served. Choose from innovations such as Korean vegetable pancakes or fried calamari with papaya salad. Mix small dishes and share with your company – three to four equal a starter and a main course.
If you’re a party of more than twelve people, it’s possible to order a Set Menu particularly tailor-made for larger parties. These menus are served in three or four rounds. The dishes, including steak sashimi, spring rolls, and salmon poke, are placed so everyone can share. As you say; joy shared, joy doubled. Social and nice, and totally according to East’s philosophy of life. For hungry night owls, there is also the option ‘Late Night Sushi’ where you can enjoy sushi every day until 02:30 am.
In the evenings, the restaurant changes to a bar and nightclub, and East has a long and strong music tradition. The DJ plays a mixed palette of 90’s R’n’B and Hip Hop, 70’s soul, and garage house, as well as techno à la Detroit and Berlin. Some of the greatest music artists of our time have been partying in these premises, and maybe it’s no surprise since the star producer Max Martin was a co-owner for many years.
In the evenings as well as brunch, East is a unique meeting place for art, culture, and music, backed by good food. It’s like a nice contrast to the Östermalm flashy Stureplan. Here you step into a stylish and friendly environment, inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Swing by for an after-work and sip on an Aperol Spritz or get lost in the drinks menu where you’ll find saké in various premium flavors, Asian beers, wines, and cocktails. You can also book corporate events or private occasions with room for up to 200 guests.
For those who want to be a bit wild and try something new, there’s the opportunity to experience an untraditional Christmas buffet. Replace the chipolata sausages and spare ribs with sashimi, dim sum and more of the East kitchen’s popular flavors. Fresh, modern, and very vegetarian-friendly. And for those who want to party, the mood is turned up later in the evening.
Bring your friends east of Östermalm. Music, art, culture, and food. And everything under the same roof. Open until 3 am every day of the week. What’s not to like? Go East! Go Today!
