Your guide to what to see and do in Stockholm

Widely respected for its innovative spirit, trendy clubs and coffee that pack a punch, Stockholm’s nickname as the ‘Capital of Scandinavia’ is not for nothing. In recent decades, the city has transformed itself from a quiet, ordinary capital to a vibrant hub of cutting-edge design, innovative gastronomy cultural diversity and sustainable values.

Whether you’re a museum aficionado, nature lover or prefer window shopping, Stockholm has something to offer. The city is divided into several neighborhoods to suit your fancy for the day. If you’re looking for alternative art designers and hipster cafés, pop onto Södermalm. If you’re looking for fine sushi and brand shops, try Norrmalm. Vasastan has a bit of everything, from affordable bookstores to trendy cupcake boutiques.

First-time visitors will find plenty to see in Old Town (Gamla stan), from Renaissance architecture to photogenic vistas. Djurgården is known as the museum island, where you can catch up on your ABBA trivia at the Pop House Stockholm, or delight the kids with the animals at Skansen open-air museum and zoo.

If it’s summer, don’t forget to take a boat trip out of the city, exploring the stunning Stockholm archipelago. In wintertime, pop by one of the many Christmas markets for some mulled wine and seasonal candy. Here at View Stockholm, we recommend hitting the sights as soon as possible to take advantage of all the awesome sights and activities Stockholm has to offer.
