Hultin Optik always strives for the customer’s glasses to be comfortable, stylish, and most importantly, adapted to the personal needs of glass and frame, style and situation. That the world becomes more beautiful, seen through a pair of handpicked and carefully selected frames that enclose a pair of professionally sharpened glasses – it is this conviction that propels Hultins Optik.
Since 1939 Hultins Optik has welcomed customers from all over Stockholm, but perhaps, especially Södermalm inhabitants who have a great interest in fashion and need quality glasses. In 2006, current owners Åsa Aldén and Elsi Malki took over the store in order to preserve the traditional values while making their mark on the business. Today, Hultins Optik is a bit of what you might call an institution and the atmosphere is cozy and familiar. The counter in the middle welcomes you to socialize. It’s not unusual that customers pop in during their lunch break for some fashion talk, or on a Friday afternoon for a glass of bubbly to scout the latest frame trends. It’s like coming home, home to your optician.
The basic idea is simple. Hultins Optik offers the level of service and quality you desire. The team consists of highly trained and skilled opticians both when it comes to the clinical and fashion part. All glasses are manufactured in their own workshop, to guarantee solid technical skills, faster service, and unique custom-made glasses. An eye examination at Hultins Optik takes time. Because a proper eye examination must take time. All customers are allocated an hour during which a range of technologies of the latest kind is used to ensure a correct assessment of eye status.

Hultins Optik always performs an AI assessment of the retina – so-called eye-bottom images are taken, which in case of deviation are sent directly to the ophthalmologist for feedback within 24 hours. A thorough clinical survey of the eye where one measures pressures and takes a picture of the retina makes it possible to detect early signs of eye diseases such as glaucoma, AMD, and diabetic retinopathy. Problems such as with eye muscles, hidden squinting, dry eyes, and high pressure in the eyes can be detected by a thorough examination and thus problems can be prevented or alleviated.
“We want our customers to be the best looking”.
The quote comes from partner Elsi Malki and really captures everything that Hultins Optik stands for. There is a professional pride that permeates the business, which is reflected in the passionate commitment the staff has for each customer. No visitors are allowed to leave until all parts are in place. Quality frame and premium glass with high pixel count. Clinical competence combined with aesthetic advice. Facial shapes, colors, occasions, fashion, and trends should together form the basis for an optimal overall impression – from within as well as from outside.
The range of eyeglass frames is handpicked and not infrequently directly taken from the major fashion fairs in Milan, Paris, and New York. These include the premium brands such as Moscot, Celine, Oliver Peoples, Savile Row, Chloé, Cutler and Gross, and Oscar Magnuson. A potpourri of the big fashion houses and more niche brands. The goal is to find brands early to be able to always offer customers the very latest. It is evident that glasses have gone from being simply a visual aid to a fashion accessory. This fact is reflected in customer demands and something Hultins is well aware of.
80% of all sensory impressions come from your sight. This is something that is taken very seriously by Hultins Optik, who do not compromise with the vision or the appearance of their customers.
