Regeringsgatan 21 – your living room in Gallerian

Modern bistro and the mall Gallerian’s new living room. Come and enjoy world flavors, homely cooking, bubbly cocktails, and after work beats

egeringsgatan 21 has three partners: Daniel, Rickard, and Turesgruppen. “Rickard has been head chef at Broms for seven years, and among other things, he mas managed the Nobel Dinner,” says Daniel Malmros, restaurant manager at Regeringsgatan 21. He continues:

“I’m pretty much born in a restaurant. I started as a 15-year-old and have always been service-minded. For the past ten years, I have become self-taught in economics and how to run a restaurant. I worked for three years at an Italian restaurant in Östermalm and then ended up at Broms, where I met Rickard. Rickard and I worked well together, we understood each other, and after two years of teamwork, we presented our concept to Turesgruppen.”

With that resume and Turesgruppen, with their twenty years of restaurant experience, backing them, they could finally realize the dream that would become Regeringsgatan 21.

They opened on May 23, 2019, and since then, they’ve acted as a living room/modern bistro in the heart of Stockholm, more specifically in Gallerian under a spectacular neon pink sign that reads ‘Regeringsgatan 21.’ Here you can sit down from morning to evening and enjoy well-cooked European food with elements of Asia. The raw ingredients are seasonal for the best taste and quality. The restaurant is committed to keeping the kitchen active and delivering dishes for both body and soul. Expect homely cooking, world flavors, and updated classics.

During lunch, two different dishes of the day are served as well as a vegetarian dish, soup, salads, and coffee afterward. At lunchtime from 11 am to 2:30 pm, it’s usually rush hour with up to 300 hungry guests.

After lunch, the menu changes to à la carte with snacks, starters, and a menu of about ten main dishes. This is a popular time for those working in Gallerian to stop by and have a bite before returning home or city people and shopping wearies to drop in and grab an aperitif or two.

“The atmosphere is relaxed and reminds of something between Paris, London, and New York,” says Daniel. The menu is constantly changing, but popular dishes that always a hit are salmon Shirazi, raw steak, planked steak, and steak, as well as vegetarian options. Snack favorites are also toasted Jansson and crispy oyster.

The crowd is mixed. Monday to Friday, it’s usually women and men between 25 and 60 – city people who have been at work and stop by to sit down and grab something to eat before heading home to the family. At the weekend, shopping souls do Gallerian and then settle down at a pre-booked table.

“Saturdays are mostly about alcohol and drinks, while Sundays mean saturation, hamburgers and raw beef,” says Daniel.

The restaurant also has different zones where those who eat can do it in peace without being disturbed by the music. And those who want to bring their food home can order takeaway or catering service with everything from canapés to buffets directly to the office. You can also book the restaurant seven days a week for 20 to 80 people.

Regeringsgatan 21 also has after work seven days a week. On Fridays, they have a DJ playing chill lounge music and R’n’B beats, as well as cava and snacks for 125 SEK. The atmosphere is vivid with happy after work souls, cocktails, and small dishes. They also run a concept called Seven Days Hot Shot.

“I love hotshots and think it’s horrible that it costs 145 SEK at the pub. Here you should be able to sit down, have a hotshot for 50 SEK and feel ‘damn this is nice,'” says Daniel.

And if you’re not looking for a hotshot, there’s a wide selection of wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks as well as well-composed international drinks with a twist. Two favorites are Elderflower Dream and their own drink Rg21 with spicy rum, pineapple, lime, and coconut foam. Once a month, there’s also a theme party such as ‘Back to the 80’s’ or similar.
