That makes it one of the oldest indoor tournaments on the ATP Tour, and last year was voted the most popular indoor tournament in the world. It has been held in the Kungliga Tennishallen except during the years 1989-1994, when it was held at the Ericsson Globe Arena.
Many famous players have participated over the years and past winners include John McEnroe, Björn Borg, Henri Leconte, Mats Wilander, Stefan Edberg, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, and Roger Federer. There have been six different Swedish titlists in the tournament’s history, and the last one was Thomas Johansson that won in 2004. This year’s line-up is the last two champions, Grigor Dimitrov and Tomas Berdych, and a number of young exciting players.
