Your guide to music in Stockholm
Long known as one of the pop music capitals of the world, Stockholm is no stranger to the live music scene. From groovy jazz bands to experimental electronic tunes, there’s something to suit every musical taste. Dance the night away at Debaser, in Hornstull, every night of the week. Fasching in Norrmalm is all about jazz, book a table for dinner or put on your finest dancing shoes to dance alongside top local and international acts. For the more obscure, the basement at Pet Sounds Bar on Södermalm tends to attract more obscure and indie palates, while Kraken in Globen struts more gothic, metal and industrial names. Snotty Sounds Bar is hip and nostalgic, with ’70s retro decor, indie posters and tattooed bartenders.
If you’re lucky to be in town on December 13, don’t miss a Saint Lucia concert. This Swedish celebration of light dates back to the dark ages, and today typically involves an a capella choir, girls dressed up in white robes and magical candles galore.
