Sally Morgan-Flower is a British artist holding her first solo exhibition in Sweden at Grünewaldvillan, Saltsjöbaden on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2019. Morgan-Flower is excited to present a collection of nature studies inspired by Saltis. Having relocated from London in September 2018, the work created over the last year has been the impetus for exploring her new home environment through nature discovery.
With more than forty oil paintings, drawings and prints on show, the artist invites us to look closer at nature. The natural subjects on display often take on a surprising scale or a fantastical element, challenging the viewer to be more present within their everyday surroundings.
Flora, fauna, landscapes, ornithology, and references to the female form are approached with feminine sensitivity studying the relationship between nature and humanity. The artist believes that nature is always honest – it is not capable of lying and it is always wise. Therefore subjects are depicted in their purest form showing unembellished, vulnerable beauty.
Having fallen in love with the space at Grünewaldvillan and due to its significant history and local presence, it felt like the ideal location for Morgan-Flower’s first show here in Sweden. Exhibiting at a venue close to home was important to the artist, relating the work ever more so to this inspiring landscape.
Sally Morgan-Flower comments,
“Creating this body of work has been the ultimate way to explore my new home. Nature is always the best designer and it can unlock sources of beauty when we take the time to slow down and look in detail. My hope is that the show challenges the viewer to connect better to their environment and therefore themselves through celebrating our relationship with nature.”
All pieces will be available for sale at the exhibition and the artist is also available for commissions.
