Haga Bottega – the Mediterranean food has moved into the new Stockholm

Sharing is caring, is a well-known expression. That you share things with those you care about. And this is the idea behind the restaurant Haga Bottega in Hagastaden. Here you’ll enjoy Mediterranean-inspired food served in the Mediterranean way – to the whole party for sharing. Just like in Italy and other countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

The construction workers are very busy in the new Hagastaden – a city area which, when completed, will have 6,000 homes, 50,000 workplaces, and connect Stockholm and Solna. Here, where the action is, and on the ground floor of the hotel Elite Hotel Carolina Tower, Haga Bottega is located since November 2017. Here, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily in an inviting, warm and lively environment with modern and stylish décor.

When you enter the dining room, which has 188 seats, you instantly get a welcoming and cozy feeling. The restaurant has invested a lot in gathering large parties, so you can socialize, eat and drink well with your family, friends or colleagues. (But of course, you can also have an intimate dinner with only you and your partner.)

Behind Haga Bottega is Stockholm Krogbolag, owned by Kristofer Sandström and Christian Olsson. The duo also runs the successful restaurants Tennstopet, Kommendören, Vassa Eggen and Tako in Stockholm. Like Tako, the group’s newcomer Haga Bottega also has Niklas Odin as a partner and an important pillar in the restaurant’s business. In charge of the kitchen is the experienced chef Björn Fallbom, with a past at several reputable restaurants. Together with an experienced team, where the focus is accuracy and quality, he prepares exciting dishes where traditional flavors meet new combinations.

The lunch, as well as the breakfast, is served in the heart of the dining, which is made up of a magnificent shiny copper table. The dishes served on the table – called the ‘green table’ – are replaced weekly, but the focus is always fresh, Mediterranean-inspired food with high quality. Some examples are tasty salads, gremolata, and antipasto dishes made of vegetables. Many dishes are also vegan, and lactose and gluten free. When you have chosen your favorites, you can combine them with either vegetarian, fish or meat served directly from the kitchen.

The restaurant is constantly packed during lunches, so Haga Bottega’s high ambitions have really paid off:

“It’s a great atmosphere during the lunches, and all the guests are so happy. I’ve never experienced that before,” says operation manager Camilla Ledin.

The dinner is served Monday to Saturday from 5 PM, and the idea is that your shared dinner really should be shared. The dishes are served to the whole party, so you can share all of the good food, and eat a little bit of everything, instead of each of you ordering your own dish. To make sure that everyone is satisfied with the meal, the knowledgeable staff are happy to guide the guests through the menu where the setup is entree, main course, and dessert.

The dinner starts with snacks, deli meats, cheeses and entrees, where you’ll find scallop with lardo, langoustine cream, green pea cream, green cabbage, and roasted almonds, or foie gras with creamy polenta, porcini mushrooms, hazelnuts, browned butter, and red onions. Among the main dishes – grill, roti or plancha dishes – there are, for example, Chicken Rotisserie, chicken from the restaurant’s rotisserie served with aioli, and grilled lemon, or Bistecca, steak from Italian dairy cow with gremolata and roasted gravy.

And what would a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant be without pizza? The menu offers several variants of the Italian classic, including the vegetarian Pizza Blanco with mushrooms, truffle, parmesan, Fiore latte, and arugula. You round off the dinner with some of the desserts, such as homemade gelato or classic Tiramisu.

You can then end the evening at the bar with a nice cocktail, a glass of wine or beer together with carefully selected snacks. Or why not take the elevator up to Carolina Tower’s sky bar where you can enjoy a great view of Stockholm with your drink. In the sky bar, you can also have dinner, organize a mingle or events of various kinds. Haga Bottega also offers After Work, and they’re planning a large outdoor seating for the summer.

So next time you’re in the mood for good food and a great atmosphere, you should go to Hagastaden. The head chef Björn Fallbom summarizes why:

“When the guests leave, they should feel that they had a nice time, ate very good food, and received really good service.”
