While we love ice cream, our 18-month old hasn’t yet had any desserts, so before our first visit to StikkiNikki, I sent a message via the company’s Facebook page to see if any of their ice cream shops happened to have sugar-free flavors available. I heard from the owner Nikki (a fellow American) that while the shops don’t currently have sugar-free options available, they will soon.
Knowing that we wouldn’t be enjoying StikkiNikki’s homemade, organic and “real” ingredient ice cream as a threesome, we decided to swing by during RF’s nap. There are currently 8 locations all around Stockholm, and we visited the one in Sankt Eriksplan, right off of Vasaparken, which is a perfect location for a treat and an afternoon playing in the sunny park.
We decided to go for three entirely different types of flavors: a fruity Blueberry Lavender, a nutty Peanut Butter Crunch and a decadent Belgian Chocolate. They were all yummy, but Blueberry Lavender was the most interesting and intense flavor for us, with Peanut Butter Crunch coming in at a close second (had there been a few more chunks of peanut butter for this peanut-butter-missing-American, it might have taken first place).
My interest in the ingredients that go into the food we eat and how it’s made has increased considerably since we welcomed a a baby into our family, which is why I was so happy to see the care and thought that StikkiNikki puts into making its delicious ice cream.
While RF slept through our visit this time, as soon as the sugar-free options are available, we’ll bring him by for his first taste of ice cream.
