Orange County Foods on Mäster Samuelsgatan feels like a lounge in California, where surfing entrepreneurs come to work and hang out.
“All our locations have different atmospheres. Downstairs in Paradiset’s food store you get a little more energy instead, and on Söder it’s rather secluded and cozy,” says Maria Allebring, founder and CEO.

When Maria felt that her life and job at a marketing department in Gothenburg was to planned, she moved back to her hometown Grebbestad on the Swedish west coast. Instead she bought a garden cafe that she operated and sold successfully. After selling the cafe, Maria traveled around the United States, where she was inspired by their fresh alternatives to fast food and the American entrepreneurship.
She rebooked the return ticket to Stockholm and got to know the owner of the organic food store Paradiset. Before Paradiset’s launch of the store on Regeringsgatan, Maria was asked if she wanted to realize her restaurant idea. She said yes and in May 2016, the first Orange County Foods opened.

Orange County Foods is a poke bar that serves a Californian version of the Hawaiian poke bowl. A poke bowl is a deconstructed sushi, served in a bowl. Create your own bowl, with lukewarm rice or green salad; tofu, raw salmon, marinated tuna or chicken, and accessories like mango, pickled onion and ginger, spicy mayo or wasabi. Or choose one of Orange County Foods’ signature bowls, like Laguna Hills with chicken, rice, green salad, avocado, edamame beans, kimchi sauce and sesame seeds. On Regeringsgatan and Brännkyrkagatan you can also order a glass of wine or a beer with your food.
