Does it really get much better than tasty Italian wine, cheese and pasta? I think not. And Deli Di Luca delivers just that and more, right in the heart of Södermalm.
Deli Di Luca is an Italian deli shop with a café, restaurant and wine bar. It’s a popular spot amongst the locals, who know delicious food and wine when they see it.
The restaurant is situated in a beautiful area in eastern Södermalm. The nearest subway station is Medborgarplatsen and it’s about an 8-minute walk from there.
Head chef Fabio Rubino offers genuine Italians classics, as well as modern dishes with exciting new flavours. You can enjoy his Italian cuisine throughout the day, from breakfast to dinner.
I’d been hearing nothing but rave reviews about Deli Di Luca. And since I love Italian food, I knew it was only a matter of time before I gave it a try. We decided to dine at Deli Di Luca during a weeknight and the atmosphere was buzzing. There were customers stopping in for fresh meats and cheeses at the deli counter, diners having an evening meal, and also those who were enjoying a nice glass of wine and charcuterie board with friends.
Atmosphere & Service
The décor at Deli Di Luca is fairly simple with some Italian inspiration. But in the evenings, with dim lighting and candlelight, it can be a very romantic dining spot for couples. It’s also quite a lively atmosphere, so it’s a great spot for an afterwork with friends.
The service we received at Deli Di Luca was excellent. Our server was attentive, and eager to recommend his favourite dishes. He also spoke some Italian phrases to his diners, making it feel like we were transported to the land of pasta itself.
If you’re a wine-lover, Deli Di Luca is a great place to be. There’s many high quality wines to choose from, as well as some delicious apéritifs such as Bellinis, prosecco, and more. There’s also an excellent assortment of spirits, liqueurs, and other after-dinner drinks, all inspired by the beautiful region of Italy.
We decided to stick with the Italian classics for our dinner. We started off our meal with an order of the classic bruschetta and the buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto. Both appetizers were simple yet delicious. The prosciutto tasted so fresh – it was unlike any other prosciutto I’ve had. Combined with the delectable buffalo mozzarella, it was a fantastic combination.
For our mains, we ordered the linguine with clams, cherry tomatoes, and white wine sauce as well as the tagliatelle bolognese. Yet again, both dishes were simple, fresh and very tasty, with the Italian flavours I know and love.
As someone with an Italian heritage, I tend to be fairly picky with Italian cuisine. But our experience at Deli Di Luca was wonderful and I would return in a heartbeat. It’s one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve tried in Sweden.
So for a taste of Italian cuisine in Stockholm, give Deli Di Luca a try. One thing is for sure, I will definitely be returning. So you may even see me there during your visit!
