On September 1, Downtown Camper, the hotel on Brunkebergstorg in Stockholm, opens its new café on Drottninggatan. The menu is mostly plant-based and 100% vegetarian. Also, a large part of the interior is created from recycled materials that take the environment and climate into account.
Since day one, Downtown Camper by Scandic has focused on sustainability, well-being, and community. The new café will become a part of the street life around Drottninggatan, and as a result, it will become a natural place for Stockholmers and travelers to meet and socialize – just like the hotel. The new café will be in the Downtown Camper spirit and have the same feeling and atmosphere as the hotel, which encourages a consistently sustainable lifestyle.
“It’ll be so exciting to open a café with really high ambitions for quality, atmosphere, and sustainability. We feel that Drottninggatan misses a natural and nice meeting point created for both Stockholmers and international visitors, although this is a very popular pedestrian street where many different people pass every day. It’s going to be great to share the Downtown Camper community here as well,” says Claes Benediktsson, Food & Beverage Manager at Downtown Camper.
Vegetarian dishes characterize the menu, and the ingredients are carefully selected from a sustainability point of view. The food that’s served at the new café primarily consists of cold, fresh and nutritionally well-prepared dishes, but there are also some warm dishes such as Beyond Burger, a completely vegan burger. The selection of beverages is mainly organic, to be as kind to the environment and climate as possible.
Environmental thinking has influenced not only the menu but also the furniture and utensils, which have been carefully selected from a sustainability perspective. The interior has furniture and lamps in recycled materials; the chairs, for example, are made of recycled wood, and the lamps are made of recycled materials and plastic picked up from the sea. And once again the Gothenburg-based architectural company Stylt Trampoli is responsible for design and interior design.
See you at Downtown Camper’s new café on September 1st!
