Last Friday we had dinner at Restaurang Storstad. We decided to sit outside and even at eight o’clock it was warm and sunny. We got a table in the corner towards Odengatan, a very vivid place and good for people watching.
The menu is French inspired and divided in three main sections; earth, sea and heaven. We were a bit confused because it wasn’t clear what was appetizer and main course sized but our nice waiter solved that for us.
We decided to have the crêpe with creamed onion, comté, truffle and hazle nuts for appetizer. We asked to share it and it was just enough to not get too full for the main course. The onion and comté combo was very nice and tasty.
For main course I had the shrimp salad and my company had the beef tenderloin. I was a bit disappointed with the salad. The shrimps were good but the salad didn’t feel that fresh and was rather boring. It didn’t contain more than green salad, a few olives, an egg and some haricot verts. I think that for the price of 200 SEK it should have had something more to it.
The grilled beef was served with roasted garlic butter, grüere French fries and tomato salad. It was nicely medium grilled with a tender inside and crispy outside. The fries were standard but a bit too soft unfortunately.
I made the reservation through The Fork a very helpful app and website that I have started to use more and more. In addition, every restaurant visit gives you “yums” – 100 yums per restaurant visit. When you have 1000 yums you can use them as payment for your upcoming reservations.
All in all, I had a great evening with good service, food and wine. The salad was a bit of a let down but the crêpe was delicious and my company was really satisfied with his beef.
