Dinner at Stadshuskällaren

This weekend I had dinner at Stadshuskällaren, located in Stockholm city hall on Kungsholmen.

The food concept with modern Swedish cuisine influenced by local flavors is created by Andreas Hedlund, who was chef for the Nobel prize dinner in 2013 and the winner of Årets Kock. It is the chef Magnus Santesson that has created the menu with inspiration of Swedish food traditions such as wild meat from the north and seafood from the west coast. The menu follow the seasons and they work closely with farmers and producers around the country. Here you can enjoy a delicious dinner or host an intimate banquet – for parties larger than 10 people you can preorder the Nobel Menu from any year since 1901, served on the classic Nobel dinner ware!

I booked this through The Fork where they had an offer of 30% off on the à la carte menu. It is a quite expensive restaurant so this was a tempting offer 😉 Everything went really smooth with the reservation, I booked this about one week ahead.


As an appetizer we got scallops and bread with Karl Johan crème. Really something extra compared to the average bread basket. The homebaked bread was delicious!

On the à la carte menu you find three main courses, European hake, corn fed duck from Munka Ljungby and deer from Sörmland. I had the deer served with artichoke, chantarelles, lingonberry crisps and blood chips. It was delicious! The combination of flavors and textures was perfect.

My company had the corn fed duck from Munka Ljungby served with pickled pumpkin, raspberries, lacinato kale and confited duck croquettes. He was really impressed by the tastes!

The interior is really impressing. It is combining the historic features with Swedish design furniture. It was really cozy with brick walls, lit candles, rustic furniture and a feeling of ancient temps.

We had an amazing dinner in the beautiful dining hall with great food and wine. It is expensive but with 30% off it was okay. I can strongly recommend you to check out The Fork when making dinner reservations, they have a lot of good offers with up to 50% off the price. Furthermore, you get yums for every reservation you make, these can then be used to pay the next restaurant visit with. I got 1000 yums now that I will use the next time to get 100 SEK of on the check, love it! 🙂
