As Stockholm gets closer to Christmas visions of herring, meatballs, ham, mulled wine and loads more delicious food fills our heads. We look forward to cozy times with friends and family in the spirit of fellowship.

But while Stockholm is glittering with Christmas lights and decorations, some people do not have anyone with whom to eat ham – and are lacking a roof over their head. This is the plight of Stockholm’s homeless, and for them, it’s a difficult situation, both physically and emotionally.
Stockholm’s annual Christmas lunch for our city’s homeless will be held at Kungsträdgården on December 19, 2019, between 11 am and 2:30 pm. The lunch welcomes everyone to the Main Stage to eat delicious Christmas food for 100 SEK. Those who lack the funds to pay for their lunch will be offered complimentary porridge and ham/vegetarian. You can make a difference by ‘paying for two and eating for one,’ with all funds going to Stockholm’s City Mission.
In connection with the Christmas lunch, there will be a gathering of individuals and companies contributing food and presents for the homeless. City’s Missions shelters will collect all the Christmas foods and gifts at the lunch and would be very happy to accept, in particular gifts like socks, underwear, hats, gloves, and practical hygiene items such as razors, razor gel, and toothbrushes (unfortunately the gifts can’t be wrapped).
Johan and Anders Turesson Sewerin initiated the Christmas lunch, and they are joined by businesses, popular artists, and several of our city’s best chefs who will cook porridge and ham. Everyone is offering their services free of charge so that every penny collected goes directly to support City Mission’s activities.
At View Stockholm, we support this fantastic initiative and hope that all of our great city’s residents take the time to participate in this important event. Previous lunches have raised a million SEK, many sacks of presents, and an enormous amount of food for Stockholm City Mission. We’re hoping this year will bring even more success.
If you’re in Stockholm during the holidays, please take the time to stop by Kungsträdgården on the 19th of December between 11 am and 2:30 pm. You will be contributing to a very worthy cause during the season of giving and also eating very well, all for just 100 SEK.
If you are unable to attend but would still like to show your support you can use Swish to make your contribution or deposit your money via plusgiro or bankgiro.
